Danny Thompson exits the stage

Relax in southern comfort on the east bank of the Mississippi. You're just around the corner from Beale Street and Sun Records. Watch the ducks, throw back a few and tell us what's on your mind.

Danny Thompson exits the stage

Post by Tubetec »

The legendary double bass player Danny Thompson has passed away aged 86 ,
Providing the low end growl and rasp on so many great recordings over the years ,
Heres a taste of his medieval folk style with Pentangle ,

R.I.P.

He was also a long time contributor/player with John Martyn.

This is a great version of May You Never they are playing

Hi Sahib ,
among others ,Danny Thompson also colaborated with Nick Drake , who was also a very close friend of John Martyn ,
he also worked extensively with Richard Thompson ,although no relation other than musical colaborators .

Both Danny and Richard Thompson made memorable contributions to Drakes '5 leaves left' ,
even though it was recorded between 1968-69 it holds up to anything today in terms of sound .
