I like the idea of the selfcontained cable tester functionality ,
It only requires the addition of a loopback input and a led level meter ,that saves the need for a multimeter to verify signal integrity,

Maybe its worth considdering trying the pocket oscillator idea in SMD , shrinking everything down in scale might push the boundaries in terms of THD .

It is a good idea. However, from experience, the cost of having a similar enclosure takes up most of the budget of the entire product unless you are buying them in massive amounts from China. It would be very hard to offer a similar/better product at a competitive price whilst still getting a significant profit from it.

I really don't want to re-invent the cable tester wheel.
Those bases look well-covered.
For field work I really wouldn't want low THD.
(Fortunately I don't do field work anymore.)

The more I think about it people will probably find a similar use for it as I would: A low cost, low-distortion, floating, balanced oscillator for lab or bench work.

I need to show how to connect a variable unbuffered output level control.
That allows unbalanced outputs up to about +16 dBu.

I have a few boards that I'll put in the store and see how they do.

This looks great, just ordered. I have one of Ian's boards as well so having two portable options will be very helpful!
