Well last week, after a forced update from Win 11 23H2 to 24H2, I said the same thing.

To make a long story short Microsoft has been saying for years that the machine security ID, "SID," wasn't important.
After the upgrade that changed and suddenly, "just like that," it became important again.
Machines which had duplicate SIDs - which are very common - couldn't peer-to-peer network using SMB.
Microsoft broke file sharing.

I had two identical machines, both purchased at almost the same time and from same vendor, that couldn't see one another on the network.
Those same machines could see every other network resource just not each other.

Having had their drives imaged from the same "golden master" they shared the same SID.
There were dozens or work-arounds posted on the web none of which worked.

I finally found a utility to change the SID which I did on one machine.
Networking was restored but three apps required re-activation.
Two reactivated fine. (Roboform and Stardock Fences)

The third failed but that was due to the original server's owner being dead. (VideoRedo)
His developer came up with an activation work-around but it required setting the system clock to 1/1/2025.
This required me to find a way to break Windows security in order to temporarily roll back the system clock for activation.
I finally found a way to roll it back and got the program activated.

Getting full functionality back took the better part of a freakin' week.

Same person who has spent decades fearmongering the world but whom suddenly changed his mind and decided that climate change is not that big of a deal after all....

I have not used Windows in any way for the past 4 months. It's been a breeze

I noticed you seemed to be preoccupied with something lately Wayne , sounds like a nightmare .

What seems to have emerged lately is the so called climate change targets are totally unrealistic and unachieveable , the whole Green/renewable thing also seems to have turned out a bit of a white elephant so Gates has decided to abandon it .
