The legendary double bass player Danny Thompson has passed away aged 86 ,
Providing the low end growl and rasp on so many great recordings over the years ,

among others ,Danny Thompson also colaborated with Nick Drake , who was also a very close friend of John Martyn ,
he also worked extensively with Richard Thompson ,although no relation other than musical colaborators .
Both Danny and Richard Thompson made memorable contributions to Drakes '5 leaves left' ,
even though it was recorded between 1968-69 it holds up to anything today in terms of sound .
