This news item probably wont make it across the Atlantic , even a search of the guys name doesnt reveal the existance of the new book and the allegations contained in it .

For those who know nothing about it , Louis Mountbatten was blown up by the IRA in Co Sligo ,Ireland in Aug 1979 ,
rumours of sexual abuse against him have circulated here in Ireland for many years ,

With strong ties to the Royal household and a powerful influence over King(Prince) Charles as well as ,naturally enough,connections to MI5 , the UK's security service , it doesnt paint a pretty picture of the people in power.

In subsequent years several of the queens close friends and even a family member have become embroiled in controversy of a similar nature .

Here in Ireland just now we find ourselves at a crossroads regarding policing , with the current Garda Commissioner ,Drew Harris ,a former member of the RUC(Royal Ulster Constabulary) and PSNI(Police Service of Northern Ireland) coming under increased pressure to resign by the AGSI (Association of Garda Sergeants) .

In the years since covid the numbers joining the Gardai have fallen to its lowest level since the forces inception .

As you would expect back in the day when Mountbatten was having young boys driven across the border into the Republic , by people with connections to Loyalist paramilitaries , the Gardai kept a very close eye on the comings and goings to Castle Classiebawn , Mountbattens County Sligo home .
The enquirey into childhood sexual abuse in the North of Ireland has requested the Gardai files relating to this ,but Comissioner Harris has kept these files sealed ,under lock and key . Its obvious that if the contents of these files became public knowledge it could reflect badly on both London and Dublin governments , so we have a situation where commissioner' Harris's loyalty to his former work colleagues (RUC/PSNI)and the Crown of England takes precedence over child protection and getting justice for the victims .

I looked into the back story of Lord Iver Mountbatten , he married ,had three children with his wife ,then divorced ,then came out as the first openly gay member of the UK royal family in history with the support of his daughters , then re-married a man .
I guess he didnt earn all the medals and military honors Louis did , but probably braver and more honest in many ways .

Theres a guy called Andrew Lownie , a British academic ,highly educated who tried to unearth the truth about Louis death through freedom of information , the 'Establishment' used every dirty trick in the book to prevent him accessing the personal diaries ,letters and other documents relating to the case . He even explored other posibillities ,that MI5 or the CIA were behind the hit , but discounts it .

An Irish career criminal and hitman,by the name of Patrick 'Dutchy' Holland who spent time in a UK jail with the man convicted of Mountbattens murder said he took the rap as part of a cover up and wanted to write a book on the subject , he died soon after , complaining of chest pains ,despite recieving medical attention in prison .
