Id highly reccomend trying a Win PE installation for audio ,
User interface will be familiar to anyone with Xp/Vista/7 experience ,
it runs on a cut down WIN10 framework,
Its a bit like computing in the olden days ,where everything needed to be loaded into RAM at start up ,
, PE configures a RAMdrive X: ,where the OS image resides ,
No registry settings are saved after power down , so each time at start up the computer must configure the drivers for the onboard hardware , then you manually apply the audio drivers , then you power up the interface , this routine is the exactly the same everytime , and of course it takes a minute or two for everything to be ready , is does everything I need of it in terms of audio , with a lot less sluggishness and anoyances(Administrative permissions) than WIN10 .
Typically now Im running two computers in my test setup , one as signal source ,one as target ,
I was able to configure the Soundblaster G6 as 384khz 32 bit signal source within REW , H/P out configured as balanced TRS line ,
The digitally controlled analog gain of the RME is a real plus when it comes to calibration , stereo balance across linked channels was typically within .01db at any setting of the controls ,
the calibration and setup configuration is stored in memory on the interface itself , all settings are 100% repeatable.
