Denon DL-103 Mechanical Impedance/Compliance Specifications

Post by mediatechnology »

There doesn't seem to be much on the web regarding the mechanical impedance of the DL-103 at low frequencies.

Denon provides this chart in the instruction booklet:

Nope, Japanese don't publish that. There are 3 types of compliance just to confuse everyone

Static: Force required to move the cantilever, fairly pointless
Dynamic (10Hz): This is the one you want to calculate where your resonance will be. Preferable to have vertical and horizontal stated seperately
dynamic (100Hz): This is a measure of the VTF required to track a specific band on a test record.

There is no direct relationship between them.

Best thing to do is play a silent groove, pass through the M-S converter and FFT. Then you can see the LF resonances and work back.
