Re: Fluke 8050A Display Upgrade
Close enough for government work! Speaking of...... way back in the early 90s a company I worked for used those meters for testing on a government project. Whatever we were measuring had to be within a gnats behind tight spec so they literally stacked and paralleled those until one of them read the ...

Re: Fluke 8050A Display Upgrade
I forgot about the -5V supply. That complicates it a bit. I have used level translators before to handle comms to a device in some weird test system I had to design. I'm thinking it was just a transistor. Cant remember which circuit but here are some ideas. https://www.maximintegrated.com/en/design/...

Re: Fluke 8050A Display Upgrade
The OLEDs are nice, its more a matter of finding a reliable source unless its a one-off project. This looks like a handy I2C LED display. According to the MAX7219 datasheet it can display "L" but I assume this board is wired to do so. Plus they have it in other colors. https://www.adafruit...

At least it wasn't just a fluke that someone replaced that cap.

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype Finished Version
Now its getting real. Board sets have arrived, I ordered enough for 5 units but have an order for 2 so I now have enough for 3 clones. No shopping site yet so this first batch will be sold direct until I do. Attached is the build guide preview. I'm finishing documentation on wiring and testing. If y...

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype Finished Version
Updated firmware in the unit and wrote some software to control individual parameters. It has the ability to save and recall setups or store settings to the unit. PC boards are supposed to be here tomorrow so this week will be getting everything ready to start supplying it all.

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype Finished Version
So while I'm waiting for boards to arrive and collecting parts and working on build guides I decided to work on another feature for this. It will now come ready for RS232 comms to configure it with a PC; all that will be needed is a USB or RS232 to serial TTL converter. I worked on the firmware to n...
