Re: New Op-Amps in stock
I have some new op-amps in stock; 4558 Raytheon .39ea $35.00/100 NE 5532's Fairchild .39ea $35.00/100 Also bear in mind I also stock 24 Awg PTFE/Teflon stranded wire, DPDT 12V Relays and LM 3914's too. Steve @ Apex Jr http://www.apexjr.com Thanks for posting Steve. I want to point out that the DPDT...

Re: VCA Compressor Gain Reduction Limit
OK JR. That's what I was thinking too. Decent gain law conformity by virtue of VCA. It seems that to get a FET, CdS cell or tube to work well in feed-forward would require a lot of linerization.

Re: VCA Compressor Gain Reduction Limit
I think you've mentioned the Audio Prism to me before. I can't find any real info out there. Love to see a working link to the manual. I'm still looking myself. I only have partials. I'm not spotting any definite feed-forwards, which raises the question: what was first? I'm wondering that too. Coul...

Re: VCA Compressor Gain Reduction Limit
One suggestion when operating in the side chain is to scale the voltages up so you are not trying to parse single digit mVs So true. If you do this, remember that the Ec driving the VCA must be from a low impedance source. If you expand the dB/V relationship be sure to attenuate it at the VCA activ...

Re: VCA Compressor Gain Reduction Limit
Yeah they defo run out of steam but I think that is what lends them to sounding cool. I have measured a number of hardware boxes that do this. In many of those it's also quite likely that the gain cell runs out of steam too. I should have mentioned that. FETs and tubes come to mind. Opamp wise I ne...

Re: VCA Compressor Gain Reduction Limit
Thanks for joining us Tom! Without having fully thought this through I think what you may want is a precision diode clamp with a variable reference placed near the end of the sidechain but before makeup gain. I may be wrong, my response is based on instinct. That variable reference, Vref, is the poi...

Hey that's cool. We got something to work from in the interim.

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Construction Information
Cool Paul thanks.
The single encoder you built can also be a decoder if you re-label input left and right mid and side. The mid and side ouputs then become left and right out. So what you have right now can do both if you want to run decode experiments.
This is the "half-duplex" build.

Panasonic BBD Catalog
I scanned and posted this for electro-music.com and realized that I may never have linked to it here.
