Re: Entropy
The China Man refuses to leave. He doesn't want to be buried in the landfill. https://www.proaudiodesignforum.com/forum/php/download/file.php?id=754&t=1 Any particular reason why the little guy on his arm can't keep watch over the garden? That works for me... looks weird but he's been watching my d...

Re: Entropy
china-man.jpg While not strictly normal wear and tear, this old ceramic statue that I carried around the country for years (after my mother died) got trashed either by wind gusts, or one of my neighbor's cats, knocking it over. This statue was a fixture in our house when we were kids growing up. Yo...

Re: digital thermometers.... arghhh
Always wrong... Is that from bad measurements or bad software ? Don't know, could be either or both. May be, there is an update available to hopefully turn it into a Quite right ? I removed the batteries and put it out of my misery. I could take it apart, but have no expectations of software upgrad...

Re: digital thermometers.... arghhh
always wrong is now in opposition to new improved... always wrong is forecasting overcast, new improved is still partly sunny with rising barometer. Actual weather is sunny and clear. JR [update- now always wrong is calling for rain... while sun is shining and skies are clear... always wrong is real...

Re: beverly hillbilly storm windows and cybernetic heat control
The overnight freezing low gave my redneck electric blanket a fair test. Full on with dimmer was warmer than needed, despite room temp barely keeping up. I need to move the dimmer where I can reach it while under covers in bed so I can fine tune for comfort. JR [update- I rigged up a GFCI outlet for...

Re: beverly hillbilly storm windows and cybernetic heat control
Yup I spent too much time messing with that stuff but while at Peavey one of our customer's got killed by a mis-wired outlet, so I am sensitive to the risk. === For some unexpected serendipity my subconscious engineering applications team figured out how to best implement my red neck electric blanke...

Re: beverly hillbilly storm windows and cybernetic heat control
I have some spare GFCI outlets in my stash, so the outlet by my bed now looks like a good candidate for GFCI. JR I searched to know what a GFCI is. I found a lengthy description that keeps repeating it protects from faults but nothing really clear ( or I was not patient enough ). In France we have ...

Re: crystal ball
#20: Silver at $100. I added some silver (SLV) to my gold position in my stock account months ago. Its up 16% since I added it, while my much older gold (GLD) position is only up 5% (up 5% is better than down 20% like it was a couple years ago). Reportedly the same reddit gambler/investor/day trade...

Re: beverly hillbilly storm windows and cybernetic heat control
I used to sleep under an electric blanket as a kid. The mechanical thermostat contacts were not snubbed. Every time it clicked on or off I'd see a flash even with my eyes closed. Those are my memories of an electric blanket. yup my old one had a mechanical thermostat that clicked. The new one with ...
