AudioTester is Back!

This is where we talk about testing, measuring and repairing things. Sometimes we have to repair the equipment we use to test, measure and repair other things. It's an endless cycle of fixing the broken things we need to fix other broken things.

IIRC there is an architectural limitation because the QA400 USB transmits in burst rather than a stream which a conventional USB sound card would use.
Not sure about the QA401 which improved the I/O.

I think you're still better off finding a good sound card, USB or AES/SPDIF audio interface.
Then you can use a large number of packages such as AudioTester, YMEC, VisualAnalyzer, ARTA etc.

I stumbled across a 7 part article on audioxpress.com...
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... asurements
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... nts-part-2
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... nts-part-3
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... nts-part-4
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... 5-the-user
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... t-examples
https://www.audioxpress.com/article/pra ... sound-card

It's a few years old but still some good info.
I really need an audio/distortion analyzer. I spent some time really looking at the Cordell THD Analyzer but a sound card or interface and audiotester could be a lot cheaper.
My other obstacle is that I have a laptop - not a PC. So that means an external interface. The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is an option.

The ADC and DAC are not the difficult part. AES/SPDIF is easy.
USB interface not so easy...
