Analog Devices "RFI Rectification Concepts" MT-096

Post by mediatechnology » Fri May 18, 2018 7:56 am

A well-known but poorly understood phenomenon in analog integrated circuits is RFI rectification, specifically as it occurs in op amps and in-amps. While amplifying very small signals these devices can rectify large-amplitude, out-of-band HF signals, i.e., RFI.

"Emitter followers as Colpitts oscillators," John Dunn, EDN, July 24, 2012.

Every follower is just one inductance away from being a Colpitts oscillator.
This is another gem I just found.

Base stopper resistors as a Q-reducer is a nice explanation. Even if an emitter follower is not an oscillator they may resonate out-of-band and rectify more efficiently.
