Just received the September 29, 2015 list of parts going end-of-life at TI.

Bye bye LM833, LM3915 and LM3916, LM380, LM4562, LME49710 etc.
Some will remain in the "MAX" SMT package.

wow some old soldiers in there that newbies still design with... I wouldn't be surprised to see 3915 and 3916 pop up in a chinese fab...

lm380 is another very old school amplifier. (nobody will miss)

I used the 833 on exactly one prototype pcb but I know one engineer that used them in audio designs.

Looks like ON Semiconductor is still making the LM833NG in PDIP and has picked up some of the older "jelly-bean" linears.

Maybe ON will make the LME-series...

Gotta check my LM3915/LM3916 stock for sure.
Avnet has pretty good inventory and prices on those right now.
Mouser also have them though a little more expensive.
Haven't checked Digi-Key....

Found this interesting. Fairchild was auctioning off an entire 6" fab facility. Somebody bought the equipment.
Please Note: Auction has been cancelled, equipment sold in its entirety. Global Semiconductor & Microelectronics Mfr. - Complete Closure of a 6” Wafer Production Facility Auction #1 - Core Assets
https://www.thebranfordgroup.com/DNN3/A ... R0715.aspx

Wonder who bought it and why.

Maybe somebody trying to keep another old fab line running, or chinese semi house making new old low tech ICs?

Just WAG... no idea

I had thought that too. Cool Audio came to mind.

Another TI part now listed by Mouser at end of life for the dip8 package, LME 49860. It will still be available in SOIC. Only problem is I do not want to go SMT as yet. It is the only one in the series to run on +- 22vdc.

If you resist SMD it will get progressively harder to source modern parts. There are SMD to TH adapters you could use.

I'm pretty sure the LME49860 in SMT will eventually go EOL as well once they run out of die. Ditto for the TO-99 versions of the LME497XX.
They have a lot of finished goods and just don't want to get stuck with these parts.

The OPA1612 is a very nice SiGe dual op amp.
I convinced Cimarron/Brown Dog to build me some populated OPA1612 DIP adapters and they have now added them to their catalog.
