Not to quibble, but I can't agree completely with at least one comment in that article.
They say combing more opamps into a single package increase dissipation. Perhaps this is semantics. Of course 4 opamps in one package will consume and dissipate more power than a single, but multiple opamps can also combine some common functions (like current sources) and actually save power. They probably don't do this a lot because of crosstalk concerns.
It is no accident that dual opamps pin out on opposite sides of the chip, and quads are separated by PS pins. This has be anticipated and well thought out in the designs.
