"The View from Chaos Manor" RIP Jerry Pournelle

Relax in southern comfort on the east bank of the Mississippi. You're just around the corner from Beale Street and Sun Records. Watch the ducks, throw back a few and tell us what's on your mind.

"The View from Chaos Manor" RIP Jerry Pournelle

RIP Jerry Pournelle
The View from Chaos Manor

...his BYTE Magazine column was one of the two best known columns in the computer industry, continuing from 1980 to 2008.
Problem. Reaction. Solution. "In order to avoid falling victim to the Hegelian Dialectic from now on you must remember the process involved. Anytime a major problem or issue arises in society think about who will gain or profit from it. Then remove yourself from the equation and take a step back to look at it from a third party perspective. See the so-called “problem,” look at who is reacting, why and in what way. Then look for who is offering up the solution. When you do this from now on you’ll quickly see the real truth instead of the false truth they wanted you to see."

Great respect for the man !I returned to Italy from Seattle in the '84 with a clear idea: have a Byte subscription at home and read Chaos Manor.
RIP Jerry and put a LAN down there !
