Re: Transformer Inductance
Thinking out loud, without knowing what you are trying to do, it is common to use opamps with a small capacitor to mimic a large capacitor, perhaps a similar trick could multiply a small inductor to look like a bigger one. Also gyrators, use opamps with small caps to mimic inductors, perhaps another...

Re: Transformer Inductance
I'm not sure what your application is but perhaps prototype up the circuit you want to use the transformer/inductor in, and see how it acts.
I suspect there may be no free lunch here.

Re: Transformer Inductance
I have no practical experience with this. I don't know if you can use transformer action to get something for nothing. I wouldn't think there is an easy substitute for copper and iron to give large LF signal handling.
When in doubt, try it and see what happens.

Re: Sum bus theory and practice
I think I have seen some discussion of that approach elsewhere... I messed around a little with putting a transformer inside a closed feedback loop to get some cheap gain, but using cheap transformers it wasn't very stable. Not using cheap transformers for me was a "why bother then?". Re y...

Re: Sum bus theory and practice
Dear John, Would you comment on how you'd go about implementing the current summing principle in a conventional mixing desk with mono input channels, and a pan circuit between the fader and the current summer? So actually my question is, what would a "current panner" ideally look like, if...

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp
The speed of the peak detector is probably not an issue for general audio use. If anything the hold is more useful than ultra fast capture speed. I would suggest a focus, on presenting a linear load to the audio path so you don't become a source of distortion in a very high performance path. As Wayn...

Re: PSU design assistance needed
An important first question that comes to mind is how much 5V current do you need? If the unregulated supply is nominally 20v, you will be dissipating 15v x that current in the pass regulator. Not a big deal if drawing 25 mA, but a few hundred mA could be several watts. So task #1 is to quantify the...
