Re: MM flat preamp … i need a set of fresh ears
If you have a read here https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/diyaudio-com-articles/163570-masters-noise-thoroughly-modern-tube-phono-preamp.html there is a section on how to use a PC soundcard to get the transformer loading sorted. Not a beginners guide tho! I know a lot of people enjoy the fun of tuning...

Re: MM flat preamp … i need a set of fresh ears
This is interesting and kind of reinforces why I don't like transformers for MC stepup. Unless you can get them on the bench and measure the ringing and work out correct loading (which may include a Zobel) you are slightly flailing about. That is a fairly mightly click for a mono record. Have you ac...

Re: Entropy
Ref MAF sensors I had all sorts of trouble on my last car (diesel Passat). Great car, esp after a minor ECU tweak but as I kept it to 290k miles it did sometimes have a few gremlins. The problem was the car suddenly going into limp home mode. Now this could be embarassing if you'd just pulled into t...

Re: "Deboosting" Google or Are We Banned? I'll Call Either A Win.
In the fight against the grey squirrel in Uk (as we like our cute but useless Reds) the pine Marten has been found to prefer eating greys so they have been introduced back into some forests. I can't see what could possibly go wrong...

Re: Entropy
Troubles come in threes. So the tumble dryer door latch has broken. At least that's only £25 and 2 screws to replace.
What will be #3?

Re: Entropy
HDMI inputs are working again, and I've put a hot air station on my xmas list. Ham fisted oaf I am I did manage to solder 2 pins together on the QFP and took an age to clean them up again. There are certain things you don't use very often then realise why you really need them!

Re: Entropy
Sigh. Sat the kids down to watch a DVD this afternoon and, 2 minutes in got a 'no signal' message displaying on the screen. Thought that the DVD player was dead so left it an checked by plugging a laptop in this evening. Nope it's the TV. Ar5e. Quick check on line suggests a known issue, part therma...
