Re: panel of speaker horn gurus
I've come across a couple of people on the internet who use SH50s at home. Too big and too 'different' for most people to get their heads around for domestic use, but I think they are the missing piece of the puzzle in terms of the next steps forwards in reproduction. Last 10 years or so have been g...

Re: panel of speaker horn gurus
He did threaten it, but I don't think Tom has much time for the average audiophile :) Couple of links to Danley inspired DIY designs http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/297620-xbush-mark-2-synergy-unity-horn-spherical-proportions.html http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/312414-3d-printed-3...

Re: panel of speaker horn gurus
Thanks, will take a watch of that if when have some spare minutes. I have a lot of interest in the work that Tom Danley has done. A couple of people have made DIY Synergy horns and they work really well. If I were to build pair of speakers it would be of this type. But first I need a room big enough...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851
Argh factor of 1000 out, I knew I shouldn't have posted on Friday night :) I saw nF and read pF. Belt and braces is always good btw esp as this should be in use for quite a while in my system. I wouldn't say 'last MC stage' but penultimate for a while. (OT the ultimate for the time being is just a b...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851
Well handy to know that there is a very good reason most MCs are loaded between 100R and 1k even if people thought it was due to some flooby parameter they read about in a magazine. As it's only really there to damp the resonance I do wonder the angst some go through chosing a value and then a resis...

You do have to admire their dedication to the cause to measure that many!

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851
It's certainly something to stock up on just in case for personal use. Luckily for my use a lifetime buy is a dozen. Oh and I realised the PNP is actually 14p more than the NPN. Horror.

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851
One other question I forgot to ask. Have you got any plans to try a configuration with the ZTX951. I realise it's t**d polishing to worry about any lower noise than you already have but the PNP is around 30% lower Rbb for no extra cost.

I don't see a small bias current as a worry, but I know some people get perturbed.
