Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389
I wanted to post the RIAA EQ Record/Monitor switcher schematic. The first image is the Flat Phono Preamp with Balanced Inputs and Outputs for RAW, un EQ'd, Recording. The second image is the RIAA EQ Monitor Switcher that can be remotely located from the turntable and Flat Preamp. https://proaudiode...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
I guess I'm confusing matters by using the word tilt. I thought I might have been the one confusing it... I visualize "tilt" as meaning a control where, for example, you increase the low end and there is a simultaneous decrease in the high end or vice-versa. What you've been describing pr...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
If I'm reading this correctly the desired shapes would be bandpass with a flat adjustable shelf within passbands. An analogy might be a speaker crossover. The "excess energy in the sub and too little LF energy in the mains that occurred in mixdown" problem you cited would seem to suggest t...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
Thanks for that Paul.I want a four band shelving EQ. Two high and two low bands with frequency selection.
What particular frequencies and boost/cut range?
I know you said the problem is often 200-800 Hz.
What top end ranges?

Re: Tilt Equalizer
Thanks for sharing that Doug.
I'm glad to see there's a history of the Tilt EQ which predates the 1970s.
"Compensation" is an interesting term.
I think Self points out that these controls are also sometimes called "Balance" which is equally confusing.

Re: Smart crock pot -looking for fan cooled heat sink.
You might consider a 12V version for the RV or boat.
Though most are going to have 120V power when parked or on shore power a 12V crock-pot would allow someone to cook the pot roast on LV power without having to run an inverter.

Re: Tilt Equalizer
I recall seeing that type of Baxandall ploted where at max boost it progressively changes from a shelving response to a broad bell curve in boost but not in cut. I think many EQs that did that were unintentional from an undersized input C but deliberately introducing it, particularly in a PA console...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
For mastering I think one of the appeals to it is both its' broad shelving gentleness (when limited to +/3dB or less) and the fact that its one knob. When the producer asks "Can you make it just a tad brighter?" you only have one simple tweak. The asymmetric example he shows in the OP, wit...
