Re: Stereo Width Control For Mastering Using the LR +/-S Met
I was asked to explain the math behind the LR+/-S Method. https://www.ka-electronics.com/images/jpg/LRS_Width_Control_Small_BW.JPG Schematic of A Stereo Width Control Using the +/-S Method Stereo Width Controller “L/R ± S” Equations Definitions L is Left, R is Right, M is Mid, S is Side. “k” is a g...

Re: Sony Discontinues Betamax
I don't have a working cassette machine, I don't own a 1/4" tape machine, I can't play a mini-disc, laser disc or DAT. My VHS and DVD machines are in a high closet. I don't have cable TV. None of my monitors accept a composite video input. I have one CD player connected to a system I never use ...

Sony Discontinues Betamax
Sony discontinues Betamax tape production in 2016, 13 years after they made their last machine and 40 years after its introduction. Sony first launched its Betamax products in 1975 as a magnetic video format for consumers to record analog television shows. At the peak in fiscal 1984, some 50 millio...

Re: modified GFCI
Richard - You seem to be speaking from experience. Any stories to share? Reminds me of a story of an SSL organ repair... It had huge bulk electrolytics and a tech came in to replace a bad one. The organ was powered-up. After it was replaced and quite proud of his repair - with his back to the ...

Thanks for letting me join! Glad to do it. If we had auto-registration the spam bots would be attempting several times a minute. Capatcha never worked well. Welcome aboard! The rep from TI said that the TO-99 version of these opamps was not being discontinued. I wonder where they're going to get mo...

Re: LM4562, LME49710, LME49720 Start-up Behavior
Thanks for joining us Dirk! I'm pretty sure the TO-99 version is being showed as active because they have tons of them in inventory that didn't sell. I'd be scared to do anything that would jepordize sales of those. The TO-99 LME49710 would make an excellent MCI/Sony metal "2003" T-9410-37...

Re: THAT5263 Dual Digitally Programmable Gain Controller
For your application Brian you also might look at using one of the THAT5263 (or 5171, 5173) attenuator ICs in the "switcheroo" Universal input found here: http://www.proaudiodesignforum.com/forum/php/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=514 It goes from +60 to -60 dB gain on one "knob" and in...

Re: Basic Mixer - 1646 output stage - seeking critique
SSL used quasi-balanced mix buses in the 4 and 6K that required back-grounding to keep it in balance.
I wasn't sure this one was limited to 10 inputs or we just stopped drawing at 10...

Re: A Simple 10W Direct-Coupled Class-A Power Amplifier
I'm kinda lost in this thread but one thing I thought of us why not use Alps Black Beauties as the attenuator.
I have some and love them.
SSL used for the CR Monitor pot and they held up very, very well.
