Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

No Progress in last few weeks due to other comittments, but my PCM4222 EVM has arrived so I can integrate that. As well as giving me galvanic isolation it will allow me to offend all those sensitive souls who think digitising a vinyl signal will rob it of some magic. Happy days :)

Re: Flat Balanced Input Moving Coil Phono Preamp Construction Information

That's interesting as I had wondered what would happen if the MM case shield were left floating. Now we know. I have two arms with no way of grounding the cartridge body without running an extra wire along the tube (or attacking with a file in one case). Handy to know it does actually work without e...

Re: Entropy

voice handoff (or UMA) lacked take up as it came out as Nokia was pissing away its market lead to apple and then android both of whom wanted to bypass carriers as much as possible. Didn't help that the infra suppliers charged through the nose for the capability. It sort of lived on in femtocells for...

Re: Entropy

cell coverage is so rubbish I have to use the land line. When I first movedin 8 years ago there was a wondeful standard that allowed a mobile to hand over to wifi. When I drove home the phone was handed over before I even got out the car. It was only supported by Nokia and Blackberry and not by appl...

Re: Entropy

Reminds me, I must dig out that BT training video and watch again which shows what happens when you drop a spanner onto a std -48V exchange back up rack (other than needing a new spanner). We are still hicksville and fibre is apparantly still 12 months away after 3 years of being so. We do have an e...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

Not so much a client as a friend. I figured having someone to encourage me would accelerate the completion of my set as well*. He's paying for the parts and labour will be bartered for some spare cartridges he has.

*At least that was the theory. Life has a way of getting in the way :)

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

That was plan B when I realised plan A was stupid (switching gain on MC board) and If you switch in a parallel resistance that gives you what you need. I'm just having a risk averse moment as, come next year I will need a visa to go and fix it! He is known to change cartridges 2 or 3 times an evenin...
