Re: Entropy

The first casualty of the holiday season has been my speakers. Well the right hand one. I had to push my apogees back to fit the xmas tree in and one of the banana connectors collided with the bookcase and snapped. After 25 years metal fatigue stuck. So i now have a ring of BeCu stuck inside I have ...

Re: Digital EQ

Be my guest. Put it where it's most useful. I promise I will actually make progress on it in the new year as well. Linux has become a lot more bloaty since the days I used to run it on a 486. Small footprint installs are almost impossible outside specialised embedded versions now. These days you sho...

Re: Digital EQ

Ah yes, that will do it. I tend to run locate updates manually when I know I'm not doing anything. Very 20th century I know :)

Re: Half decent 5.5 digit meter

Well this might start me on a slippy slope. I've bodged along with a couple of cheap and nasty hand helds for long enough now, so two meters would be better than one. An 8050A is also added to the hunt list on ebay to see what comes up. Course if I had the space I would really like an HP 3456A for t...

Re: Half decent 5.5 digit meter

The Instek looks good, but 5x the amount I can justify :( . I might just get a £75 solartron for now as can sell for the same in 12 months time and see how I get on with it. The 8050 I can get for 75-100, and looks tempting. The kelvin connections on the solartron are swinging it that way for me for...

Half decent 5.5 digit meter

Time has come I can't keep borrowing off friends and need to get a half decent 5.5 or 6.5 digit meter. I have my eye on a solartron 7150 as I've borrowed those in the past, they are compact and affordable in uk due to a dumping of a lot of mil surplus units so under $100. Any others I should be look...

Re: "I Am A Google Deplorable" 855-290-0342

Only reason the TV went on last night is I've broken a speaker banana backing it up to the bookcase to get the xmas tree in! I must sort that tonight as well as making up the cable for the second turntable

57 channels and nothing on....

As most of big tech these days is about tickling dopamine receptors the less social media you go on the better in terms of having a life. Two of my teen daughters are totally hooked.

Re: "I Am A Google Deplorable" 855-290-0342

What makes me laugh is the fact that targeted advertising has actually gotten worse. Back around 2008 time there was the big fuss where Target discovered they could work out if a woman was pregnant AND the due date from products they bought. This creeped out a lot of loyalty card holders. Tesco in U...

The scary thing about the world today is that microsoft is now the least evil of the big firms. Time to dust off 'going underground' by the Jam.
