Re: Entropy

Usual trick in UK to stop mosquitoes is fish. I never got as far as putting them in the rain water tanks when I had them, but was tempted. there are various things you can put on the surface to stop them as well, but ours don't carry any nasties.

Almost goes back to the burying a barrel :)

Re: Entropy

Fast flow will pick up silt, slow will drop it. Which in theory means the best solution is to try and get the water to go through the pipe as fast as possible. The gravel that got in the pipe will not have helped as the silt will have collected round that, but anywhere the fall was reduced is likely...

Re: Entropy

well the premade stuff is there for people who can't be bothered, but inlet/outlet and a seperator principle should be able to be made up with fairly std parts. Another idea is here https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/landdrain.htm which is your silt bag idea enlarged. But given the amount of silt...

Re: Entropy

Short of putting a sizable silt trap at the inlet end not sure much you can do. Which adds another service job to do, but at least only one lot of desilting in a known location! After the usual eating and drinking too much took the littleuns out for a walk. The field where next doors soakaway is was...

Re: "I Am A Google Deplorable" 855-290-0342

I think the rumblings of dissent have been going on for a few years. I never subscribed to 'free' services where I was the product and was amazed when advertising dollars were being thrown at the internet with no real due diligence being done on the returns. I have a feeling that a perfect storm has...

Re: Entropy

Ah didn't realise it was unsealed. High pressure air jets will shift mud very well and used instead of water pressure washers in some areas. But in this case was thinking more the redneck solution to the problem. Clearly rodding is out as you might push the rod through the wall of the pipe? A vibrat...

Re: Entropy

See I would go all Red Green at this point and attach an airline to see what that could shift, whilst conveniently ignoring that air, being a compressible fluid is the gift that keeps giving when things go wrong :)

Re: Entropy

Not a fun job there. I will save you from the horror stories of the septic system here from a few years ago. The area I live in is odd as, despite only being 40 miles from the centre of london has a very high proportion of houses with no gas and no mains sewerage. The landlord likes to bodge. After ...
