Re: sous vide

Phosphate brine is also used on beef brisket in a lot of Bar-B-Que restaurants. He can't sell me meat but he can sell live chickens. There is a house near where my land is in the Adirondacks that has a yard full of ducks and geese. I'm hoping they will sell one or two. I love duck. Gotta get the ca...

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389

Since the preamp can be located far from studio meters I thought it might be nice to add a 'calibration' LED in the preamp box. I have a feeling this is fairly easy for anyone but me. It should light an LED at 0.388VAC or -6dBu.

Re: Phono Transfer System

I packed the demo unit up and brought it over to Josh Bonati Mastering this evening. I made a cable with an SME connector on it so it could plug right in to the SME 3012. He uses the later SAL74 drive rack for his VMS70. This would replace the phono pre integrated into the rack. We set it up and cal...

Re: Phono Transfer System

Here is the final Demo Unit build. Sort of. Wayne suggested using the line in to receive the preamp board and using the phono in to receive the line in. That way I can pad the line in with J2/IC5 so line in is unity gain. I had it wired up with phono in going to phono in before Wayne suggested this ...

Re: Phono Transfer System

Thanks for posting the pics Paul. Looks very good! How much gain post-EQ based on 7 cm/s and your MM cart does it take to get +4? I have a few MM carts. I was using the AT 150MLX to test before. I don't remember how much gain I had. I've settled on adjusting the flat preamp gain to produce -6dbu @1...

Re: Phono Transfer System

I did the face plate and wired the switches. I still have to test and calibrate. I decided to ditch the variable level. To maintain optimal headroom and get 7cm/sec to +4dbu you have to take gain after the EQ. This means there will always be gain through the line level section. I thought the variabl...

Re: Phono Transfer System

I'm finally getting to the "demo" unit I'm going to pass around. I should be able to finish it up tomorrow. The preamp is set up for an MM cart with room to add transformers for an MC.

Hey Roger,

Same to you!
