Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?

well that didn't take long... didn't turn on when water level hit the low float today. The common customer complaint is that the controller fails stuck on and burns up the pump motors... For now I am manually switching it again... I may wait until next weekend to pull it out and troubleshoot....

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?

IMG_20200224_151248447.jpg I finally have reliable (I hope) cybernetic control of my crawl space sump pump... The tethered level switch (that sucks) is cable tied up at attention so hard on... The add on smart level switch is attached to the side of the pump by the discharge outlet... I put some co...

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?

In no great surprise, the old sump pump that still worked has a readable power plate calling for 9A. Thus the warm extension cord... New pump despite 2x HP does not seem as current hungry. [edit- while I wasn't paying attention it looks like they started rating motors by HP not current... my old 1/4...

It will be a horse race between this purchase breaking even before I meet the grim reaper, but the benefits go far beyond economy. I can't recall the last time I touched my thermostat...

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?

Sump pump only ran 15-20 minutes this AM so ground water is subsiding a little. I was little worried when I upgraded to 1/2 HP from previous 1/4 HP sump. I had noticed that with the former 1/4HP sump the extension cord got a little warm, not enough to be a concern but evidence of the current draw......

Re: Entropy

The replacement switches and capacitor arrived today... already swapped them in and the old cooker is now working as good as new... not fully back together, but enough to confirm that it works. I don't really need two slow cookers, we'll see... The bigger one is now large enough to comfortably hold ...

Re: how green is my shack?

I am pleased to see a power bill 2/3rd what it was one year ago, with 24 hour heat/cooling comfort.

Do you have a smart meter?
Meter was replaced with some kind of high tech version a couple years ago, but not doing any tricks that I am aware of... it has a LCD display, but nothing intelligible to me on it.
