Re: Entropy

@JR: Your story just reminds me of an episode of 'Malcolm in the midde' for some reason, but suspect I'm hanging around with people with kids the wrong age to even know that show ! I liked that show (good writing and OK talent) but have no idea what triggered that recollection. The bayonet? The doo...

Re: Entropy

back on the entropy train... my second replacement door bell button arrived, my front door needed one too... This repair started out pretty promising since the door bell lights up if the wires have power. But I noticed that it was intermittent with changing wire dress. I took the screen door frame a...

Pakistan is not a safe space... I recall a pakistani legislator being assassinated for opposing death sentences for insulting Islam.

Re: Entropy

I think I'll keep my Stihl... it is pretty effective at making sawdust.

I have already made a bunch and this summer is just getting started, I have several trees I am thinking of cutting down and/or seriously pruning.

Re: Entropy

This weekend entropy hit me. Wife and kids have been down with some flu thing all week so of course weekend was MY turn to feel carp. The shower is still playing up and the heating block had started leaking on it. Replaced that and it still shuts down after 3 minutes. Bother. So its probably the wa...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

I never tried or promised to make one flat with my old termination selector kit, only to approximate the design termination the manufacturer expected. A remarkable number of people playing vinyl back in the day were completely ignorant of things like cable capacitance, etc. I'm not sure many manufa...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

I've never had any luck flattening out cartridge response via termination. Most of the time the problem with cartridges sounds like a resonant peak. I've never tried to measure it. Terminating an MM cart with capacitance forms an LPF, right? How could that possibly work? I never tried or promised t...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

I was going for the classic 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x binary progression so you could cover up to 15x with fair resolution by mixing and matching...perhaps a little wonky for hifi market. all switches open gives you the nominal load termination.
