Re: Entropy

2 1/2" rain yesterday.... My improved 6" diameter buried drain is working as expected (drains back ditch faster). The good news is my tree guy cut down my one progressive pine tree (it was "leaning in") , and dropped a ton or so of branches from my other pines that were stealing sunlight from ...

Re: was HYPEX amps cheap surround system

I have some Hypex nCore modues on my bench right now that are in a client's bass amp. Do you see about 1V P-P of residual carrier on the output? 2 Q: I hooked up my UcD to an oscilloscope and I see some HF sine wave at about 400 kHz. Is this normal? A: Yes. The 400kHz signal you see at the output o...

Re: was HYPEX amps cheap surround system

Finally finished deconstruction and ready to connect some dots. lots of room inside, and a surfeit of good speaker output jacks DSCF0150.JPG For now I will terminate the audio amp inputs to RCA and plug directly into the cheap 5.1 decoder (probably the weakest link) and subject to upgrade. I will ma...

Re: was HYPEX amps cheap surround system

This sucker is proving harder to get apart than expected... lots of Phillips screw heads stripping out. It powers up and front display looks fully functional but I wasted a half hour trying to get something from/thru it, before tearing into it. If I had the remote control it might be worth getting t...

Re: was HYPEX amps cheap surround system

I just got another piece for the puzzle... an optical to 6 ch 5.1 decoder with master volume control. I have been used three cheap stereo amps and having to rebalance everything to tweak master volume. I have been dragging my feet on gutting the old unit in hopes I could use it as a front end... now...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

The problem TI has with screening for burst noise is the amount of time the IC would have to sit in the test socket. It might take up to 30 seconds for the part to have one of its noise burst fits. Kinda like an IC with Tourette's syndrome. eggzactly... They could sell a guaranteed low noise ...

Faster horses (cars), younger women, older whisky, more money....

Over the decades we've seen designs extremes, like audio power amps that could pass RF.

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

Relax I am not making a suggestion...

Many years ago when I first saw announcements about op amps with 50 ohm drive capability my mind wandered to what could that be useful for in audio? Still not very practical for other reasons/

I repeat good job...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

I like the 300 ohm feedback R's to manage their noise contribution. Perhaps marginal for 5532 drive capability but don't expect much voltage swing there. There are modern uber op amps that reportedly drive 50 ohms but never confirmed that... I expect there are diminishing returns with scaling those ...
