Re: Entropy

I drive a minivan so gas powered tools are banned from inside the cabin. I also like having a sword close by for any other types of emergencies.

Re: Entropy

We keep a Silky Saw Sugowaza in the car. It’s a Japanese tree saw that is amazing. For trees up to about 6” in diameter it is as fast as a chain saw. You never know when there is downed tree across the road. We took delivery of a shed to be used as the kitchen last May. Two of the windows were non f...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

I never tried or promised to make one flat with my old termination selector kit, only to approximate the design termination the manufacturer expected. A remarkable number of people playing vinyl back in the day were completely ignorant of things like cable capacitance, etc. I'm not sure many manufa...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

I've never had any luck flattening out cartridge response via termination. Most of the time the problem with cartridges sounds like a resonant peak. I've never tried to measure it. Terminating an MM cart with capacitance forms an LPF, right? How could that possibly work?

Re: too cheap to fix?

I like fishing line to fix that kind of stuff. A tight sewing machine stitch usually isn’t practical. Fishing line is very durable even with only a few stitches.

Re: "I Am A Google Deplorable" 855-290-0342

I was able to put a name to the previously unnamed hill we are on in ADK. If you punch in Lester Hill, Schroon Lake NY our place shows up. The hill was unnamed on the USGS map and every other map I have so I thought it would be okay to name it. It's Lester Hill for one previous dog. The road is Earl...

Re: too cheap to fix?

I may need to start paying more for gloves that don't totally suck. Those gloves are only sold in multipacks around here. Semi disposable. There are worker supply places that have work clothes, hand trucks, nylon strapping and stuff like that. The other semi disposable glove is a knit glove dipped ...

Re: Something to ponder about IoT

I love cast iron cookware. Pineapple Upside down cake is a favorite of mine too. I just learned making a tart tartan is very similar and even easier. Eggs and breakfast potatoes are best by far in a cast iron skillet. It’s so humid in the Adirondacks that even if we heavily oil the pans they still r...

Re: Something to ponder about IoT

I assume that phones are the main method of music consumption now. And yet we haven't seen a shift to headphone optimised mixes which I find odd No more odd then not having specific mixes for different media. You can’t predict how music will be consumed. All this home automation looks like it makes...

Re: Entropy

It was political campaign virtue signaling, and when the senate called a vote on it no democratic senators (even the one who cosponsored it with AOC) would attach their name to it. If it was real legislation it would get fleshed out later in committee, but this was always smoke and mirrors. Right, ...
