Re: The Waveulator: Two VCA-based Clipper Saturators

Nice! Excited to hear this version of the expansion at some point.

Re: The Waveulator: Two VCA-based Clipper Saturators

Looking amazing Wayne! Comparing this to your previous schematics it seems like it wouldn't be a terribly difficult mod to add expansion back in by allowing the detector to drive either the + or - side of IC12B (and IC13B), correct? I understand it doesn't really make sense on a mastering clipper, b...

Re: The Waveulator: Two VCA-based Clipper Saturators

Thinking some more about it, my ideal version might be 2 mono boards, linkable for stereo. But would summing the audio or CV like a typical stereo compressor make sense in this case?

Re: The Waveulator: Two VCA-based Clipper Saturators

Ooh that would be great! I'd be mostly using it on a stereo bus in a mix, and probably also as a special effect on individual tracks. I really like how the space drops away in the expansion example, kind of like a transient designer without the envelope artifacts (with some cool artifacts of its own...

Re: The Waveulator: Two VCA-based Clipper Saturators

Wow I love this circuit! I've just gotten interested in clippers and figured there might be something useful on this forum. I actually really like the expansive distortion example, I'd love to build a version that has the linear detector along with the full ratio control. I guess you never released ...

Re: MicMix MasterRoom XL-305 Spring Reverb Clone

I wasn't able to dissolve the glue on the MODs, so what I did was just cut the coils from the middle and then just re-hook them there. I ended up abandoning them though, I think I broke one off the transducer while doing this and also realized the staggered spring heights wouldn't work as well for me.

Re: MicMix MasterRoom XL-305 Spring Reverb Clone

Oh cool, thanks for that info. I've just been sticking little pieces between the springs, which shortens the decay a lot. I've also tried resting some bigger pieces across the top of the springs for less severe damping. Now that you mention it I may try them underneath and see how it sounds. That mi...
