Re: Amazon-Free: A Two Year Anniversary

And My Imperial socket set that I needed to work on my American car when I had it came from Sears. Actually a lot of my favourite tools are craftsman brand. Sears should have been able to stifle Amazon at birth and they missed out. Which means at some point someone will kill amazon, but we may not l...

Re: Amazon-Free: A Two Year Anniversary

I'm 98% Amazon free as I dislike their employment practices despite boss being able to swim in money. And I like to have a local shop to go to. The hardware store in town closed at xmas after over 100 years. Proper ironmongers but it couldn't compete with the internet. Mind you they didn't stock the...

Re: Entropy

At my old house the record was about 15 deer in the garden at once. Scares the sh*t out of you the first time you walk out in the dark and see all those eyes staring at you. Tulips and Roses were their favourite foods. Oh and plums. They would clean the plum tree of fruit. But they were tasty...

D'oh. I just realised that I hadn't read the spec sheet properly! The input SD modulator has only 2 clock options. I'm an eejit.

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

Thanks Bill, great idea. Maybe the TL431 winky for A/D clip? I think your up-and-coming PCM4222EVM has clip LEDs so you have even more to look forward to. So it does. I hadn't spotted that. I need to nag as it's sitting on a bench in a TI lab somewhere. slightly OT question on that. Do you know wha...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

Just needs ref and clip LEDs to be perfect. Ref comes on at 0dB off a test disk and clip when the output hits 0dBFS for the ADC.

Re: Smashed Plastic Vinyl Pressing Plant Opens in Chicago

I am impressed that at least one company has tried to make new presses not tied to 1950s tech. But they are braver than me. Dunno how much the new presses are but amortization calcs would scare me.

Re: Smashed Plastic Vinyl Pressing Plant Opens in Chicago

Whenever I read of another pressing plant opening I think of Tulips.

But with new vinyl releases selling for £20-£30 there is demand short term. I'd still rather have set up a brewery if I was young again :)

Re: entropy continued?

Progress. Made a new umblical up. Swore at infinity for using the shield for signal carrying and hooked a 9V battery to the standby line. Relay click, standby light goes out. Now can I find my stash of PP3 battery connectors anywhere? Nope. Ah well £2.50 gets me a box with a switch so come thursday ...
